Phillies lose to the Boston Red Sox Saturday Night

PHILADELPHIADaisuke Matsuzaka pitched 7 2/3 hitless innings to lead the Red Sox past the Phillies 5-0 on Saturday night at Citizens Bank Park.

Juan Castro, filling in for Jimmy Rollins who went back on the disabled list earlier in the day, broke up the no-hitter with two outs in the eighth inning with a bloop single to shallow left-center field.

Kyle Kendrick (2-2) got hit around by Boston. He had allowed only one run through 4 2/3 innings, then he fell apart. The right-hander gave up four runs with two outs in the fifth and couldn't even make it out of the inning. He was the first Phillies pitcher in 11 starts to not make it through six innings.

Matsuzaka was pulled after eight innings. He gave up one hit, four walks and struck out five. Daniel Bard pitched a perfect ninth for Boston.

The Phillies finish off the homestand when Roy Halladay faces Tim Wakefield tomorrow afternoon.
