Pancake fundraiser to help boy who needs lung transplant

FROM THE MORNING CALL

Tomorrow, I'll share with you the story of this little guy, 8-year-old Luke Maeding of Upper Nazareth Township. The short version is that he has a lung disease, and he needs a double lung transplant (that mask helps him breathe; he wears it between 2-8 hours a day and the rest of the time he's on oxygen).

The procedure costs more than $500,000, so family and friends are doing a bunch of fundraisers to help offset the costs.

One of them is taking place tomorrow, so I wanted to give a day's warning, if only online. Between 8-10 a.m., pay $6 for some pancakes at Applebee's. All proceeds will benefit Luke and children like him who need transplants.

The address is 3702 Easton-Nazareth Highway in Lower Nazareth Township.
