Naus paces Hurricanes to District title

Schuylkill Haven – Hurricanes senior Tyler Naus rushed for 179 yards to help his team earn the District 11 Class A title over Pius X last night, 37-14 at Rotary Field. The Hurricanes (10-2) on the season will face District 1 champion Calvary Christian at a site and date that are to be determined. Naus scored on runs of 5 yards and 2 yards to help pace his team to victory.

The game was all tied at 8-8 at halftime but Schuylkill Haven lead 23-14 after 3rd quarter and then tacked on 2 more rushing touchdowns from Brian Murphy and Jason Sammond, of 1 and 2 yard touchdown runs respectively, to close out the game’s scoring.

A Boise Ross touchdown run of of 15 yards, and touchdown pass from AJ Long were all the scoring for the Pius X Royals (8-4).AJ Long completed 20 of 35 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
