Blair Academy wrestlers top High Point for Final Four title

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Blair Academy took its fifth straight NHSCA Final Four championship with a 54-10 win over High Point Regional High School, the No. 1-ranked team in New Jersey, tonight at Easton Area Middle School.

Easton, which fell to High Point 41-29 in their first match of the day, finished with four straight wins over Walsh Jesuit 50-22, Collins Hill (Ga.) 42-15, Pen Argyl 39-23, and the third-place match, a 43-23 win over Council Rock South.

Easton's Mason McIntyre (160) delivered a huge 14-5 win against High Point's John Guzzo, who was a third-place finisher at New Jersey states last season. Against the Green Knights, Peter Stanley's 5-3 overtime decision over Jamie Welsh at 112 helped to turn the tide.

Pen Argyl defeated Lake Stevens (Wash.) 64-12 in the ninth-place bout, but the Green Knights gave both High Point (37-34) and the Red Rovers (39-23) all they could ask.

Green Knight 152-pounder Rex Lutz delivered a pin of Easton's Anthony Minotti to spark Pen Argyl against the Rovers and also pinned against High Point.
