Paulik gets the floor, not the whole gym; plus Patriots meeting

From Keith Groller

Got a call this morning from Gene Jani, telling me of an error I made in this morning's Around the Valley column in print.

The ceremony on Feb. 10 at Salisbury to salute former coach Bill Paulik will dedicate the gym floor in his honor, not the entire gym.

The dedication of Bill Paulik Court will take place before the Falcons game against Southern Lehigh.

I guess the school district is still open to the possibility of a commercial enterprise buying the naming rights for the gym as distasteful as that may seem.

In either case, I am happy that Paulik is getting some kind of salute after so many years. He was always a class gentleman and a beloved figure on the local basketball scene.

Also, for the softball community, I wanted to mention that at 8 tonight at the Allentown Patriots community building there will be a meeting to discuss plans for the coming 2011 season.

There have been a lot of changes within the Pates organization recently and this might be a key meeting to see what's going on with the organization and what is going on at what is still the most prominent softball facility in the Lehigh Valley, and possibly, the state.
