Karl Keglovits hurls perfect game as Nazareth Area High School baseball team opens with 10-0 win over Pocono Mountain West

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Nazareth's Karl Keglovits managed to steal the spotlight away from Justin Pacchioli for at least one day.

The junior right-hander pitched a five-inning perfect game and struck out 10 as the Blue Eagles' baseball team opened its season with a 10-0 victory over Pocono Mountain West at Nazareth Borough Park.

Pacchioli was 0-for-2 with a walk in his much-anticipated Nazareth debut. The senior catcher transferred from Easton to Nazareth in January and just recently was granted eligibility to play for the Blue Eagles by the PIAA.

"I love having Justin Pacchioli here," Keglovits said. "He's a great addition to the team and we work really well together."

The hard-throwing Keglovits overpowered the Panthers. He struck out the first four batters and fanned the side in the first and third innings.

"He looked good for the first time out, that's for sure," Nazareth coach Jon Lock said. "I don't think many guys are used to seeing the way Karl can throw."

Mike Garzillo and Billy Deutsch each homered for Nazareth. Dan Shepherd had two hits and two RBIs.
