Another day of postponements for area softball

FROM KEITH GROLLER

They waited a lot longer today, hoping there would be a break in the barrage of rain bands that keep spiraling off the Atlantic Ocean.

But ultimately, there will be no softball again tonight as the Colonial League and Lehigh Valley Conference semifinals are postponed for yet another day.

They will try again Thursday night -- same matchups, same times, same locations. Thursday was originally supposed to be the night of the championship games at Pates Park -- LVC at 5, Colonial at 7.

I have not heard officially, but I imagine those title games are now tentatively scheduled for Friday night, back at Pates Park.

At this point, though, no one is etching anything in stone. It may be until Saturday everything is done, maybe even Sunday.

Remember, the leagues want their champs determined in time for the seeding meeting, which is at 4 p.m. Sunday at Northwestern.

As an alternative, leagues can always declare a champion for seeding purposes, but no one likes that.

And I know by now, no one likes this rain.
