Lehigh Valley IronPigs add extra 'home' games to 2012 schedule

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees needed a home for the 2012 season as a result of a $40 million reconstruction project to PNC Field in Moosic, Pa.

Well, the team has found a few homes for next season, including Coca-Cola Park.

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will host eight additional games against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre next season as the Yankees are splitting their home schedule among numerous ballparks.

So that means all 16 games against the International League North Division foe will be in Allentown next season.

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said the Triple-A affiliate will "establish our base of operations in Rochester with more than half our home games played right there in Rochester."

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is playing 37 "home" games at the Red Wings' Frontier Field, 10 games at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse, seven at Dwyer Stadium (Batavia, N.Y.), six at Coca-Cola Field (Buffalo) and four in Pawtucket.

This isn't the first time the IronPigs have been a home away from home for the Yankees. Due to poor drainage at PNC Field in 2009, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre had to move a pair of home games to Lehigh Valley.

The dates and times for the additional games at Coca-Cola Park are as follows:

April 5, 7:05 p.m.
April 6, 7:05 p.m.
April 28, 6:35 p.m.
April 29, 1:35 p.m.
July 5, 7:05 p.m.
July 6, 7:05 p.m.
Aug. 29, 7:05 p.m.
Aug. 30, 7:05 p.m.
