Sports Media Weekly No.100- Darren Rovell, CNBC, NBC Sports Network

http://sportsmediajournal.com/ t took some time to get here, but we have reached the 100th edition of Sports Media Weekly. After a couple of weeks off Ken Fang of Fang’s Bites and I begin the show by discussing the plans by ESPN and the NFL Network to cover tomorrow’s NFL Draft. We then look at the ratings success of both the Stanley Cup Playoffs on NBC Sports and the NBA on both ESPN and NBA TV. We also look at NBC’s plan to live stream every event at this year’s Summer Olympics in London. We wrap up our news segment by making our predictions of who will take home the Sports Emmys when they are handed out this coming Monday in New York. Our guest for our 100th show is CNBC Sports Business Reporter and host of Game On on NBC Sports Network Darren Rovell. Darren talks about how he got interested in covering the sports business beat, how athletes who run businesses tend to be more willing to speak to reporters, his Twitter “wars”, his affinity for food, and who he thinks will be the marketable athletes at this year’s Summer Olympics. Ken and I want to thank those of you who have followed us through the first 100 editions of the show. It means a lot that we have such dedicated listeners. Here’s to the next 100 episodes!
