Events planned around the Lehigh Valley area

Poplar St. The schedule is as follows: opening ceremony at 12:30 p.m.; concert by Red Hill Band at 1 p.m.; Macungie Band performance at 3 p.m.; and rededication ceremony at 4:15 p.m. The refreshment stand will be open. Douglas Bolasky, former band director of the Macungie Band for 25 years, will serve as master of ceremonies. In case of rain, events will be moved inside Memorial Hall. LOWER MACUNGIE LIBRARY, 3450 Brookside Road, Lower Macungie Township, will host a talk by Ron Kunkel of the Lehigh Valley Amateur Astronomical Society, "What Happened to Pluto?" at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 25. If weather permits, participants will stargaze with telescopes. Register: 610-966-6864. COPLAY PUBLIC LIBRARY, 49 S. Fifth St., will host an astronomy program 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 26. Ron Kunkel, director of Lehigh Valley Amateur Astronomical Society, will explain the Milky Way and other galaxies using a slide show.
