Mets claim Anthony Recker off waivers from Cubs

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Thanks to my former Dieruff teacher and coach Tommy Young for alerting me to this. Tommy works for the Mets at their spring training facility in Port St. Lucie.Anthony Recker 13 He told me the Mets picked up Catasauqua High graduate Anthony Recker on waivers on Wednesday. The 29-year-old Recker, a catcher who played his college ball at Alvernia College, has played in 27 big-league games over the past two seasons with the Athletics and Cubs. He has hit .152 with a home run, three doubles and 10 walks, but has 22 strikeouts in 66 at-bats. That first career home run came on Sept. 9 against Pittsburgh after Recker was picked up by the Cubs in a trade on Aug. 27. He played 13 games with Oakland in the 2012 season, nine with Chicago.
