Thursday night boys basketball scoreboard: Don't etch that district berth in stone for Lehighton

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Because I was at the Sands for the Phillies Winter Banquet, I couldn't get out to a game on Thursday night. But thanks to our No. 1 game-gatherer Roger Pence and the rest of the office staff, here's a recap of the very busy Thursday night boys basketball scoreboard created by a lot of games moving up a day to escape the expected Friday snow. LEHIGH VALLEY CONFERENCE Central Catholic 59, Whitehall 45 ... A one-point second quarter doomed the Zephs. Muhammad Ali Abdur-Rahkman scored 18. Freedom 63, Dieruff 54 ... Nyreef Jackson scored 20 for the Pates, who remain hot. Emmaus 66, Becahi 52 ... Nate Feiertag 23. COLONIAL LEAGUE Catsauqua 72, Palmerton 38 ... Roughies clinch a District 11 berth and Jarrid Strong lives up to his last name with 16 points. Salisbury 42, Palisades 28 ... The Falcons took only four foul shots and missed them all. Northwestern 42, Pen Argyl 39 ... Big comeback for the Tigers, who trailed 29-20 entering the fourth quarter. MOUNTAIN VALLEY CONFERENCE Stroudsburg 72, PM East 24 ... Cardinals scored just four points in the second half; one in the fourth quarter. ES North 69, Lehighton 51 .... Disappointing loss for the Indians on the heels of the big win over Stroudsburg. Malique John scored 31 for the T-wolves. Pocono Mt. West 54, ES South 51 ... Eric Vick had 18 for the Panthers, who are closing in on clinching the top seed for the MVC tournament.
