Saturday morning's Stroudsburg - Nazareth high school softball game at the Nazareth Intermediate School, a good game by the way featuring two likely District 11 qualifiers, will conduct various fundraisers to benefit the Miracle League of Northampton County.
It's very nice of the two programs to get together and do something nice for a great cause.
And while that's going on at Nazareth, the Miracle League of Northampton County will celebrate its first opening day with some special ceremonies.
The facility, located in Palmer Township behind the Charles Chrin Community Center, was opened last September.
Here is more information from a release:
Palmer Township, PA – The Miracle League of Northampton County would like you to join us as we open our 2013 Spring Season. Our much-anticipated first full season will open on April 27, 2013, at the MLNC at Easton Rotary Field located at the Charles Chrin Community in Palmer Township, PA., with first pitch scheduled for 10 A.M.
As you may know, through the hard work of our board and many generous donations from local individuals and businesses the MLNC opened our million-dollar field last September with much fanfare and anticipation from the young ball players. As it is the MLNC’s goal to give young children with physical and mental disabilities a chance to play baseball, over eighty young ball players hit the ball, ran the bases and made memories of their time on the field last fall.
This spring we have more than doubled the number of teams in the league and anticipate more than 180 players – from Northampton County, Monroe County, Upper Bucks County and Warren (NJ) County – attending our games. We ask that your organization join us in supporting our very special cause.
The MLNC is requesting that your media outlet join us on Saturday, or any of the following nine weeks of our season, so that these inspiring ball players can be introduced to the community by your coverage of them.
The MLNC is a non-profit organization formed to build a Miracle League field that serves the greater Northampton County area. This field is centrally located at the Charles Chrin Community Center complex in Palmer Township. The location is easily accessible for residents of Northampton County, Monroe County, upper Bucks County and Warren County, NJ. Also, the site was selected because the field is part of recreational complex where children of all ability levels will be playing side by side with their siblings, friends and classmates in a truly integrated recreational facility.
Thank you for your anticipated support, and if you should have any questions about coordinating coverage please call Dan McKinney at (610) 252-1505
